1. OMG! You seriously can't help yourself when it comes to chocolate. Every day at lunch you just crave, crave, crave that Snickers bar! But to fit into your homecoming outfit this fall, you know you need to cut back even if it's only for a few weeks. Can you do it?
Oh noes, please don't make me do this. I NEED it. You don't understand the urge. Oh, totally! If I come up with a reasonable plan, I know I'll be able to stick to it. Does switching candy brands count? I can't give up Snickers, but that probably means Kit-Kats are next.
2. Oh no, they didn't! You just found out your bf/gf cheated on you when you went on a family vacation last month. So much for honesty, geez. How are you going to handle this situation?
I need to sit down and talk things out. I don't know how this happened. Things have been so good! I don't mind being a quitter when it comes to something that I know isn't good for me--like my soon-to-be ex. Oh I can't do this. I don't care what s/he did, I just love 'em too much!
3. Your friend is attempting to quit smoking cigarettes. Thankfully, you never started. It's the reason he has no turned to you for constant support when he feels like he might falter. Can you lend him that helping hand?
YES! I'm totally committed to helping him have a better life. I won't quit until he does! Oh man, that's a lot of responsibility. I don't know if I can handle it. Eeek! I can't do this. What if he sneaks one? Then it's MY fault! No, I'd rather not get involved.
4. It's puppy-time! At least that's what your mom calls it when she asks you to walk the dog. Granted, you love little Fido, but you never realized having a pet would be this much work. It's getting colder out, and you're not sure you're going to be up for those brisk morning walks this December. What do you do?
Fido deserves his walks. I'll just make sure I bundle up a ton this winter, and maybe I'll invest in some Fido-boots so his fur doesn't get frozen. Fido deserves a loving family, one that's willing to make these hard sacrifices. Maybe it's better if we find him new owners. I'm going to work out a compromise with my mom: We'll each walk him every other morning.
5. You really want to make the swim team this year, but you're nowhere near the shape they require you to be in for tryouts. The coach knows how much you want to do this, and said that he'll be willing to work with you. It's going to take a lot of work, 5months of weekly water workouts...argh. Can you swing it?
Yes? Maybe? No? Oh, I'm not sure. I'll give it a decent try. I don't know if it'll work out though. All I wanted to do was splash around, really. 5 months is too much work for just a little thing like high school swim team. Whatever... Yes. I have to if I this swim team really means as much to me as I think it does. I'll do anything it takes.
