1. The cold air is nipping at your nose and the trees are looking barren with just their sticks and branches. Good news, the weather man says there is a 60 percent chance for snow tonight. Hoorah! What do you do with this news?
No way, snow! That's awesome. I'm probably going to be running to the window every two minutes, looking up at the sky just to see if it's true. There is so no way I'm going to get to sleep tonight. Visions of school cancelation are going to be dancing through my head. Dude, I'm heading straight to the garage and start waxing my board. Sure it probably won't snow enough to hit the slopes tomorrow, but obviously this is just the beginning and I want to be prepared. Oh wow, I think I'll make a patch of nutmeg cookies. It will be nice to have the fresh smell of spice in the air when the snow starts falling down. I think I'm going to break out a classic film like Miracle on 34th street or White Christmas. I know it's still a little early, but maybe all of the good cheer will encourage the snow to come! Urgh! Well I have to go out and get my tires retread. Snow makes for the worst driving conditions and I need to get to work tomorrow. Such a hassle, gosh darn snow!
2. You wake up in the morning and you notice your room is unusually bright. The first snow of the season has arrived. What do you do?
I jump out of bed and wake everyone in the house up. It's the first snow of the season, of course everyone is going to want to know about it. I put on my boots and go out to judge the snow, ASAP. I hope it's deep and really powdery. That always makes for the best rides. I go downstairs and make a nice breakfast. Nothing says first snow like waffles and maple syrup! I break into song to celebrate the season. There are so many great holiday tunes about snow. I turn on the news and look at the road conditions. I need to know how my life is going to be screwed up by this stuff today!
3. What is the first memory you have of snow?
I remember the first snowman I ever made. We called him Mr. Frosty. We even gave him a carrot nose, but it fell out when the snow melted. I remember sledding with my brothers, sisters or friends. It was such a rush zipping down the little hill. Snow always reminds me of hot chocolate. I remember coming in from the cold and my mother would always have a steaming glass waiting for me. Snow always meant Santa Clause to me. I think it was because my favorite book was The Night Before Christmas when I was growing up. You know, I remember liking snow at one point, I just don't remember why.
4. If you could think of one word that would describe snow or how snow makes you feel, what would that word be?
Fun! Excited! Warm! Happy! Frustrated!
5. WHAP! Someone just smacked you with the biggest snow ball ever? What do you do?
Fight back of course! This means war. Keep zooming along. I'm moving too fast to stop for a snow ball fight. I smile and then go inside to enjoy warming up and slipping into a fresh fuzzy sweater. Stop and explain that fighting is not a very charitable thing to do. Then I try to convince everyone to make pretty snow angels instead. Curse the frickin' snow. It's cold, darn it! How could anybody enjoy playing with it or being hit by it?
